Careful packing is of utmost importance as it ensures the shipment is delivered safe and sound to its destination. A correctly packed shipment protects the contents from damages, prevents harm during transport and helps ensure a swift journey through the delivery chain. Pakettipiste does not provide reimbursement for damages to unpacked or inadequately packed shipments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

General packing requirements \u00b7 Parcel shipments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    \n
  • The parcel should be able to withstand mechanical handling and not damage other shipments, people or equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Max weight: 35 kg<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The parcel must be intact and able to support of 4 to 5 times its own weight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Keep the contents from moving \u2192 fill any empty space with foam plastic, styrofoam, cardboard etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Do not use the following: plastic bags, plain sales packages, irregular shapes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Shipment dimensions are specified in the Product Conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Recycled packaging<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      \n
    • Remove or cover all old address labels and barcodes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Make sure that the package is intact and clean before reuse.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Attach the new waybill directly on top of the old one if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Liquids and fragile items<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        \n
      • Carefully pack liquids and fragile items to avoid leaks or breaks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Use absorbent inner packaging for liquids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Secure fragile items in place and protect them from impact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Dangerous goods<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          \n
        • See Traficom for instructions on transportation of dangerous goods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Pack dangerous goods according to regulations on the transport of dangerous goods.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • We only transport dangerous goods in accordance with LQ regulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Packing into\/onto a transport unit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
            \n
          • Pack evenly and avoid pyramid stacking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Use corner protection and bracing to protect the shipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Secure the shipment to base with straps, wedges and stretch wrap.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Make sure that the transport base is of the right size and able to withstand the load.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Protect any parts of the shipment that protrude over the sides of the base.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Irregularly shaped and heavy shipments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
              \n
            • Cage trolleys: heavier items on the bottom, lighter items on top. Proper balancing is important.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Barrels: separate with corrugated cardboard; prevent sliding & contact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Tyres: wrap in plastic, secure tightly to base.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Pipes: bundle, secure to pallet, use wedges or a friction mat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              Machinery and machine parts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                \n
              • Use appropriate packaging when packing machinery and machine parts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Carefully secure any unpacked machinery and parts to transport base.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Add a sturdy piece of plywood for support if necessary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Special packing needs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                  \n
                • Liquids and powders: use absorbent inner packaging and sturdy boxes to prevent leaks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Glass bottles: protect each bottle individually to avoid damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Long items: pack to prevent bending or breaking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Sharp items: protect to avoid punctures to packaging or damage to handler.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                • Shipments weighing over 35 kg \u2192 place on a transport base suitable for mechanical handling!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                  Sealing up and waybill<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                    \n
                  • Seal up properly with tape, straps, ropes etc. \u2013 make sure that address information is not obstructed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • If you use recycled packaging, fully remove all old labels, barcodes and dangerous goods labels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • Each transport unit requires a clear, non-smudged waybill \u2013 do not fold over edges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • Place the waybill on the largest even surface \u2013 for pipes, perpendicular to the pipe’s length with the barcode longitudinally along the pipe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                  • Document attachments (such as dangerous goods transport attachment, invoice) in an adhesive document pocket next to the waybill.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                    Labelling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                      \n
                    • Each transport unit must be labelled with address information. Recommendation: include contact information for both sender and recipient.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • Place the SSCC barcode in the upper corner on the wider side, but not over edges or under load securing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • Any old labelling must be fully removed. Any \u2018Do not stack\u2019 labels or dangerous goods labels must be unobstructed and clearly visible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                    • Transport units weighing over 1,000 kg: add labels for gross weight, centre of mass, lifting points.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                      By following these instructions you ensure that your shipment arrives safely and intact. A responsible sender packs shipments carefully to protect their contents as well as the people and tools involved in the transport process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
